Ingredients

  • 1 to 1 ½ lbs. ground beef (we prefer 80/20)
  • coarse kosher salt
  • black pepper
  • favorite burger seasoning or just ½ teaspoon each of garlic powder and onion powder

Assembly

  • 4-6 hamburger buns
  • 4-6 slices cheese
  • Favorite burger condiments & toppings like ketchup, mustard, lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, and more

Instructions

  • Shape meat into patties. Use your fingers to press and indentation into the center of each burger.
  • Season on both sides with salt, pepper, and burger seasoning.
  • Preheat air fryer to 370°F. Cook for 5 minutes, then flip and cook another 5 minutes on the other side. If adding cheese, open the air fryer, top with cheese slices, then immediately close again to let the cheese melt for 1 minute after the burgers are done. Rest 5 minutes. Internal temp of 140°F for medium, 150°F for medium-well or 160°F for well-done.

Notes

  • Burger temp: The correct internal temperature for burgers depends on how well you like your burgers done. Medium-rare (pink in the center): 130°F to 135°F, Medium (slightly pink in the center): 140°F to 145°F, Medium-well (possibly a very small amount of pink): 150°F to 155°F, Well-done: 160°F to 165°F.
  • To reheat: If you have burgers that you want to reheat, just cook for 3-5 minutes at 350 degrees F in the air fryer until heated through.
  • Other proteins: You can make turkey burgers, chicken burgers, bison burgers, salmon burgers, or veggie burgers in your air fryer. You just might need to adjust the cooking time for some of the leaner burger options, which tend to cook faster than ground beef.
  • BBQ burgers: Brush your juicy air fryer hamburgers with bbq sauce during the last minute or two the cooking time so it has a chance to caramelize on the burger.
  • Toppings: Serve with your favorite aioli, crispy onions, cooked bacon, sliced avocado, or other favorite toppings to make gourmet burgers.
  • Use the air fryer to toast your buns! While the burgers rest for a few minutes, open up those buns and toast them for 2 minutes before serving.
